Growth Overview

The Growth Conversation feature in Wazo is designed to support structured and meaningful career development discussions between employees and their managers. Unlike traditional performance reviews, this feature emphasizes long-term growth by focusing on aspirations, skill-building, and personal development.

Employees can initiate or participate in conversations that encourage reflection on key areas such as career ambitions, strengths, areas for improvement, development plans, and the kind of support they need from the organization. These discussions also help define actionable next steps for ongoing growth.

By encouraging these open and forward-thinking conversations, the feature promotes a culture where development is continuous, proactive, and employee-driven—rather than limited to formal, annual check-ins.

How it Helps

The Growth Conversations feature strengthens career paths by encouraging employees to reflect on and actively plan their development within the organization. It prompts thoughtful discussions about goals, aspirations, and the steps needed to move forward, helping employees take ownership of their growth.

For managers, it fosters transparency by providing a clear understanding of each employee’s ambitions and expectations. This insight enables more meaningful support, guidance, and alignment during career planning.

These conversations also boost engagement. When employees feel heard, valued, and supported in their professional journeys, they are more motivated and connected to the organization.

Importantly, Growth Conversations help align individual development with broader business needs. By mapping personal aspirations to organizational goals, both employees and the company benefit—creating mutually rewarding career paths.

At its core, the feature promotes a two-way dialogue. It’s not just about giving feedback but about building a shared plan for future success.

Use Case: Mid-Year Development Check-In

Halfway through the year, a manager schedules a Growth Conversation with each team member. One employee expresses a desire to shift into a leadership track over the next year. Together, they outline:

  • Skills to develop (e.g., delegation, team communication)
  • Projects that could provide leadership opportunities
  • Training resources to explore
  • Timeline for reassessment

Both parties document these next steps inside Wazo’s Growth Conversation feature, making it easy to track and follow through.

Impact

For employees: They gain clarity on their future, feel supported in their ambitions, and see clear pathways for advancement.

For the organization: It builds a culture of internal mobility, reduces turnover, and ensures that people are growing in ways that match business needs. Plus, it improves manager-employee relationships by creating a foundation of trust and open dialogue.

A strong growth culture makes people stay — and thrive.

User Guide

The Growth Conversation section in Wazo offers a dedicated space for employees and managers to engage in structured, career-focused discussions. It is designed to transform career development into a shared, ongoing, and action-oriented experience—moving beyond informal check-ins or annual reviews.

To access this feature, navigate to the Growth Conversation section from your profile dashboard or through the sidebar menu. If no conversations have been initiated yet, you will be greeted with a clean page featuring a “Create Conversation” button to get started.

When no existing conversations are present, clicking the Create Conversation button will open a pop-up form titled “Create Employee Conversation”. This form prompts you to fill in three essential fields:

Growth Area – a dropdown menu where you can select a relevant focus area for the discussion.

Title – a short heading summarizing the topic of the conversation (limited to 50 characters).

Conversation Agenda – a detailed outline that includes discussion points, goals, or important notes for the meeting (limited to 200 characters).

Once conversations are created, they will appear in chronological order on the page for easy reference and tracking. Each entry serves as a documented checkpoint in the employee’s development journey.

At the bottom of the form, you will find two actions: a Cancel button to exit without saving and a Submit button to officially start the conversation. These simple controls ensure a smooth and intentional setup process.

Wazo’s Growth Conversation feature is built to support continuous dialogue around growth, making career development more purposeful and collaborative.

  • Step 4: Fill in the Conversation Agenda with a brief outline of what you want to discuss — goals, challenges, support needed, etc.
  • Step 5: Click Submit to log the conversation.

Once submitted, both the employee and manager can refer back to it for accountability and follow-ups.
